The island is Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort, an exclusive Spa resort located in South Nilandhe Atoll. The island, the beach and the sea gardens are meticulously maintained to conserve nature’s ecological appeal. The resort is designed to reflect local tradition and architecture with every modern convenience incorporated to provide a luxurious ambiance. Snorkeling is suburb & direct access from the beach, north east side of the island.
The beach side of the resort looks into the calm water of the lagoon. Ideal for water sports, the centre is larger and more active than most. The house reef side has beach as well, it is just not so wide and the corners suffer from a degree of erosion. The sand on the lagoon side is also wonderfully fine and deep. The jetty is on this side next to the main bar and lounge. By happy coincidence this faces west, so the deck of the bar is a perfect place for a sundowner.
South Nilandhoo Atoll has not been discovered much in terms of diving, a number of exciting dive sites has been discovered after the inauguration of tourism in the atoll. Vilu Reef is situated in the northeast corner of the atoll, which offers some of the best diving in the atoll.

Beach Villa
Beach villas are individually appointed and circular in shape, the roof depicting the shape of the reowned Nautilus shell compliment the beauty of the natural surrounding. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fan, air-conditioning, room safe, mini bar, IDD telephone, satellite television, a four-poster king sized bed, a comfortable divan which can accomodate an additional third person, sitting area,writing desk, a seperate dressing area with full length mirror. The en-suite bathroom is large with an enclosed courtyard for maximum privacy. Bathroom amenities include an open air bathtub, hot/cold water, hairdryer and toiletries. Double glass paneled doors lead out to a large timber deck, which overlooks the beautiful beach and lagoon. The rooms are luxuriously furnished with custom made teak furniture and lightings.

Diving: Although much of South Nilandhoo Atoll has not been discovered in terms of diving, prior to the end of 1998, within the short period since, a number of exciting dive sites has been discovered. Vilu Reef is situated in the northeast corner of the atoll, which offers some of the best diving in the atoll. A number of narrow channels in the area, endowed with ‘thila’ formations at their centers, offer excellent dives right at our doorstep. Two vessels are also known to have wrecked in the atoll, although both are at the island of Kudahuvadhoo, on the southern rim of the atoll; Liffey wrecked in 1879 and Utheemu 1, which ran aground in 1960.

Not only do we provide gourmet meals prepared by our professional chefs and your favourite wines and cocktails. We also provide the right atmosphere, and the perfect surroundings to go along with them.
You may book your holiday with us on half board or full board. While prepaid meals are served at the Sunset Restaurant, delicious snacks and gastronomical delights are served at the coffee shop round the clock.
Sunset Restaurant: From the top the Sunset Restaurant looks like three Nautilus shells joined together. From the spacious inside it is three separate pavilions joined together by corridors. The three sections provide comfortable seating for 200. The ceilings of the circular pavilions are designed to depict a Nautilus theme, giving it a unique atmosphere. Curved wooden panels decorate the spaces in between the columns that support the roofs. Except for the low walls surrounding each section the pavilions are open to the garden outside offering an excellent view of the beautiful green vegetation and the lagoon just a few metres away. Tables for four are spread out on the spacious tiled floors. The buffet spread out at breakfast offer you a choice of continental or European fare. Lunch and dinner buffets offer you a tour of international cuisine.
Coffee Shop: The Coffee shop is located inside the spacious Nautilus bar, swinging doors connecting the Coffee shop to the rest of the bar. However once inside it is a totally different atmosphere from the rest of the bar. The floors are tiled and the wooden tables, covered with tablecloths of traditional design, give the coffee shop a rich traditional atmosphere. This is the place for an afternoon snack, or lunch if you are on half board. The coffee shop also provides the ideal atmosphere for a special candlelit dinner. From the menu special section on Vilu Reef’s specialities you may enjoy a ‘Seafood Mixed Grill a’la Gourmet’ or lobster prepared in the style that you prefer. How about ‘Shrimp Cocktail Emerald’ as an appetizer. The Coffee Shop even serves ‘Rice and Garudiya’ - the most popular Maldivian dish, white rice served with boiled tuna and chilly. In addition to the variety of delights offered in the menu, the Coffee Shop can provide for your special requests. Please let us know your requirements and we will do our best to satisfy you. Upon request we can organise spaghetti parties for the evenings or a good pizza if that is what you want. Various types of parties can be organised on your request. The coffee shop is open round the clock.
Nautilus Bar: The Nautilus bar is spacious and airy with white coral sand on the floor and comfortable seating inside. A spacious open-air deck wraps the western side of the bar spreading out over the beach. The Nautilus Bar is well stocked with all the usual bar drinks, the finest wines and champagnes and an endless variety of cocktails including the familiar and the exotic. The Nautilus Bar is the place for a quiet drink in the afternoon and it provides an excellent view of the explosive sunsets that are common in the Maldives. In the evenings it is the centre of activity and entertainment. Inside the bar are a snooker table, darts and table tennis for you to enjoy free of charge. Take on a newly made friend for a friendly game of snooker or take part in the excitement of the ‘crab race’ held once a week. The Nautilus Bar also features a disco floor for the weekly disco evenings. The open-air deck is the ideal place even in the evenings - especially if you want to be a little bit away from the activity. Here it is perfect solitude and a chance to sit and enjoy nature.
